Design Process

Consultation

After contacting us, we will schedule a free initial consultation to discuss your garden, your requirements and preferences, and tell you how we work. At that meeting, we will provide you with a cost estimate for the design phase. Typical formal plan costs range from $400.00 and up depending on the scope of work and size of the site. At that meeting, we will note any client requests or problem areas to address. A copy of a sample design questionnaire is below. You will be provided with a contract for design services which will identify the scope of work and rates charged. If we decide that you do not require a formal plan, we will be happy to offer suggestions and offer a proposal at no charge. If you do proceed with the formal design, we proceed to the next steps.

Site Survey

We will conduct a site survey to take into account the existing gardens, assess boundaries, and other measurements required for the subsequent preparation of the plan. Client supplied Plats, or existing survey information can be accepted in hard copy or electronic format in order to accelerate this process.

Concept Plan

Depending on your needs, we will prepare a concept plan outlining the proposed garden design. This will serve as a discussion document outlining our ideas and allowing any adjustments you may wish to make, prior to preparation of the final hardscape or planting plans. We will provide you with pictures or samples of proposed plants and materials for your review. We will then meet with you to present this plan and discuss the proposed plants and design.

Master Plan

We will then prepare a Master Plan that incorporates any changes you've requested and incorporates your plant likes and dislikes. At this time we will also provide an estimate for the entire installation. This plan will show the scale, name, size, quantity, and location of all proposed plantings. These are chosen based on our extensive experience in this area with performance, maintenance and your stated preferences. It will also identify hardscape elements with pricing.
