| Description: | This group is called the Red Holly™ hybrids because several produce new growth that is a red to maroon in color. They are easy to grow and care for. They can be planted in full sun or partial shade, in a spot that is protected from damaging winter winds. The Red Holly™ hybrids make excellent anchor plants for a foundation planting. They also make good corner plants because they don't overpower the house. They all respond well to shearing, and can be easily maintained at a suitable landscape size. They also appear to be more deer resistant than other hollies!. There are many Red Holly™ hybrids, some are not widely available yet at local nurseries. See our profiles on 'Festive', and 'Robin' which are two of our favorite Red Hollies™. |
