Description: 'Matrona' features tight, attractive, fleshy grey-green foliage with a rosy edges and burgundy stems and is good looking even when the plant is not in bloom. This hybrid variety is a tough, easy care plant that adds a new look and color to the border. You don’t need to wait until late summer bloom time to enjoy their attractiveness in the garden. The flower buds start in mid summer, bold clusters of closely packed, silvery pink flowers appear in late summer, age to a rosy pink and finish with a deep rosy bronze in fall. Every stage of flowering is attractive, even the old rusty flowerheads. Tall, upright sedums form substantial clumps which can be substituted for shrubs in the landscape. Their stout, sturdy stems support the massive flower heads which develop in summer and burst into bloom in fall. If left standing, they provide winter interest and food for birds.
