| Description: | This hybrid offers another color breakthrough for in coneflowers, with its soft creamy yellow flowers. This new Echinacea has super sturdy stems, and an excellent very upright habit. The flowers are fragrant, and large (about 3" across) with non-recurved petals surrounding a central cone that begins green and turns orange. They smell lightly of roses. See 'Mango Meadobrite Coneflower' for some planting ideas. Plants thrive in average soils and hot, dry conditions; they also shrug off winter cold. The cone at the heart of the flower turns black as the seeds mature, adding further interest and providing nourishment for goldfinches over the winter. All Echinaceas make excellent cut flowers. |
