| Description: | In the spring, masses of tiny blue flowers with yellow centers rise up and cover the thick heart shaped leaves of this noteworthy garden plant. There are variegated leaved forms available as well and they are very showy, although they tend not to be as vigorous as the plain green variety. 'Jack Frost' is a particularly noteworthy cultivar. Brunnera thrives in partial shade in rich, moist well drained soils. It does not tolerate drought well, so it will need supplemental water during dry times. Will self-seed and naturalize. Great for a woodland garden, semi-shaded border, along streams or ponds. |
